Manchester City 3 - 1 Arsenal Video Highlight All Goals -Manchester City outclassed Arsenal to open up an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League for a few hours at least. Kevin de Bruyne's driven finish and a Sergio Aguero penalty put City on the way to a ninth successive league win, equalling a club record for a single season.

Though substitute Alexandre Lacazette pulled one back for Arsenal, Gabriel Jesus sealed victory for the home side from close range. Arsenal were aggrieved at the penalty awarded for Nacho Monreal's challenge on Raheem Sterling and Jesus also appeared to be offside for the third goal, but they did not deserve to take anything from the game.

City came from behind to win in a meeting between the free-scoring, unbeaten top sides in the Premier League and Serie A.

The hosts were on top for the first 30 minutes and deservedly led when Lorenzo Insigne played an excellent one-two with Dries Mertens and steered the ball past Ederson. City started to see more of the ball after Napoli's blistering start and were level when Nicolas Otamendi headed in a cross from Ilkay Gundogan - a surprising selection in the starting 11.

Christian Eriksen provided a cool finish from Kane's pass for the third and even though Cristiano Ronaldo pulled one back for Real with 10 minutes left, it was too little, too late, as Spurs made a powerful statement about their European aspirations.

The Red Devils, who earned their place by winning last season's Europa League, have claimed four victories from their four Group A games and need just a point from their remaining two games to progress.

"We have not qualified yet? Four victories and it is still not enough? We must get that point from the two remaining matches," said manager Jose Mourinho.

"I am more than happy. We changed a lot of players, we broke the natural dynamic and routines of the team and we played a kid (Scott McTominay) from the academy.

"We scored two goals, did not concede, gained three more points, more money for the club because every victory means money and did not have any significant injuries."

Messi’s free-kick – he seems to take them with the same certainty that he will score that some players take penalties – got Barcelona out of a hole after Scottish referee William Collum had sent off Pique for deflecting the ball into the net with his hand.
